Lypiatt House

Lypiatt Road,Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL50 2QW, Cheltenham GL50 2QW, UK – 01242 224994

Highly recommended. We had a great stay here, the room was well presented and clean, I loved having a bed made with blankets, first time I have slept all night in a hotel for years! great breakfast, helpful staff, quiet location close to town, ample parking. Loved it!

Fabulous place really enjoyed our stay again, staff are fantastic and the hotel is very clean

DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham

Cirencester Rd, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham GL53 8EA, UK – 01242 222021

We stayed in this hotel as a stopover on our journey to St Ives and we really cannot fault it! Excellent cleanliness throughout the whole hotel, excellent quality food and the rooms were faultless. I’d definitely recommend to anyone who likes good quality hotels with good service, friendly staff and an all round great standard. It really is top notch! Thanks to all of the staff for providing such an excellent service!

Booked for a long weekend out in the country. Positives - efficient check-in, made to feel welcome (complete with a complimentary cookie), comfortable, clean and spacious enough rooms, good breakfast (quality and variety). The rooms have no air con but this is clearly stated by the hotel and our room had a good and quiet fan which was more than sufficient. Less positive points - location (far from the centre and not well served by public transport), poor sound-proofing. Two things were a real turn-off though: bar and lounge etiquette and some of the reception staff. We stayed for an afternoon tea and the lounge doubled as a kindergarden for half a dozen of running around and screaming kids with neither the parents nor the hotel management attempting any discipline. Later more guests came in, suitably attired in bathing suits and fluffy robes. We were not expecting black tie but don't think it is too much to expect basic standards of decorum and behaviour at a 4* hotel. The reception staff, with a couple of exceptions, were neither particularly helpful nor particularly switched on. Overall - not an entirely unpleasant stay but one time is more than enough.

Cotswold Grange Hotel

Pittville Circus Rd, Cheltenham GL52 2QH, UK – 01242 515119

This is a really good hotel, not overly expensive, in a quiet georgian street, 10-15 min stroll to the city centre. It has parking for about 20 cars & it is a lovely building in a good state of decoration & repair and is maintained to a very clean standard. There is a really nice dining room with excellent cooked breakfasts included in the room price. We had a comfortable bedroom, and got good sleep, as the hotel is very quiet at night. There is a hard landscaped rear garden with a water feature & espaliered trees, which is relaxing to sit in with a glass of wine or two - there is a good choice of drinks at the bar. The staff are helpful & friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend this hotel.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Strand

40-42 High St, Cheltenham GL50 1EE, UK – 01242 511848

Great real ales and craft beers with also lots of good wines and gin selection. Fab live music at weekends. Food is good and lovely staff. We love the little outside court area right next to the park and nice place to stop if dog walking for quick pint.

Very nice place. Friendly staff. Cracking beers. Limited but nice menu. Food was good and value for money. Recommend Visited again on another business trip to Cheltenham. Another very nice evening with good food and beer.

The Royal Charlton Kings

54 Horsefair St, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham GL53 8JH, UK – 01242 228937

Everything about this place is fantastic, great menu, polite and friendly staff and great environment... That being the location and atmosphere. Only downside to the pub is the pricing which me my sister and her partner all felt was a little on the high side but I can definitely see it being justifiable I'm some eyes. Great job to everyone that works there and would highly recommend to all.

Lovely food and atmosphere. We had the evening meal recently - very nice but felt the lunch time options suited us ladies better. We had a good time although noisy at times.

The Langton

189-191 London Rd, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham GL52 6HT, UK – 01242 233022

I have shared so many great times at the Langton. Lots of family and special occasions and I have never been disappointed. The food is of a high standard for kids and adults alike. The choice of drinks is exceptional but what really makes it special for me are the staff. They are so friendly and welcoming and they are great with my daughter. We love the new look inside and out. Looking forward to seeing you guys later! 5 stars all round guys!

1st time I attended here was for Christmas day 2017 and it was perfect! No mass produced tasteless slop here! Big portions, homemade and great tasting with friendly surroundings. I returned for a friends birthday last weekend. I booked online and for the first-time a location carried out my online request,i asked for glasses of prosecco on arrival. Without prompting they arrived. Food was perfect again and they brought out a cake I brought with me (but didn't advise them I would) lit with their own candles and allowed us to have this as our dessert. Perfect meal. Will be trying to book Christmas 2018 when possible!

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
